How to Care for Your Handmade Rug

A handmade rug is built to last, and a little care keeps it looking its best.

When your rug arrives

Rugs are folded or rolled for shipping, so yours may arrive with a few creases. Lay it flat and they'll flatten out after a few days of use.

Loose threads

Handmade rugs can have the occasional loose thread. Don't pull it. Trim it level with the surface using scissors.

Regular cleaning

Vacuum regularly on a low-pressure setting, without a beater bar, to lift dust without stressing the fibres.

Deep cleaning

For a deeper clean, we recommend professional dry cleaning to keep colours vibrant.

Use a rug pad

A rug pad improves durability, adds cushioning and stops the rug slipping.
